  • THANA CITY GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB

    336-1968-78

On totally flat land, former rice fields and fish ponds, Greg Norman used plain grasses, reeds and lots of sand to create the illusion of a seaside links right in the middle of one of Thailand's biggest housing development. There is a fair amount of strategic water but all clearly visible. This is a course for real golfers, without much floral dressing; holes to test the shotmaking and distance judgement, with one or two heroic carries for par.

  • NATURAL PARK RAMINDRA GOLF CLUB

    914-1930-60

Designed by Jack Nicklaus, this is a Par 72 18-hole course. Huge lakes come into play on almost half of the holes and at the 16th, players have to hit their apporach to an island green. Putting surfaces are good, but most of the greens are well guarded by deep bunkers. The palatial clubhouse has several restaurants and function rooms.

  • KRUNG KAVEE GOLF CLUB

    577-2891-3

The sheer quality of this championship course speaks for itself. From the beautifully manicured greens to lush fairways, so springy, you can use a fairway wood for every shot. There are four sets of tees and very interesting and testing holes on both A9 and the B9. Holes 6, 7 and 8 are very long even from the ladies tees. There are many lateral water hazards and several water carry holes.

  • BANGPAKONG RIVERSIDE COUNTRY CLUB

    (038) 573-420-7

Thailand's first riverside course measures 6,683 yards with bunkers found around landing areas and greens. The river whips round the course and weaves into some holes. Thick rough impinges, even though fairways appear wide. Strong wind can add extra yardage, particulary so on the par three holes where players have to contend with water carries.

  • LAM LUKKA GOLF CLUB

    995-2300-4

Roger Packard has created a pleasant modern course, typical of the former paddy field courses around Bangkok, with lots of water, wide fairways and big greens. There has been a great deal of planting, so the courses already are blessed with more shade than many of the newer courses. The game strategy is accuracy rather than power play. A few holes have water on both sides of the fairway and at the back of the green. The big clubhouse provides every amenity for the golfer.
